Unreal Engine First Person Shooter Level
I decided to make a First Person Shooter Level in Unreal due to the fact that I felt the engine would be able to provide a more clear path towards building basic shooting mechanics and I wanted to play around with the geometry tools and lighting systems Unreal Engine 4 has available. This level is a very basic First person Shooter map, something similar to what you would find with a multiplayer map in a Call of Duty game. I wanted to create a level that wasn't to big and had some height differences in certain sections of the level to give the map more vertical space and for player to be able to gain positional advantage over those who might be below them. As you will see, this map uses a sort of cycle design where certain zones have different tactical purposes based on the layout and the amount of cover each zone has.
Middle Villa Area
The middle of the map had to have some empty space so that it would be easy to scan the general area without too much in the way of players looking for targets but with the few buildings I did include and with some other barriers and places to crouch behind, there is always somewhere a player can stop for a bit to either reload or to take cover in case they are getting shot. This is the centeral area where most combat will take place.
Back Ramp Area
The back ramp area is a zone where players should quickly gain higher ground if they wish to fall back after being pushed back across the bridge line in the middle villa area and go around to the sides to ambush. It isn't a zone create for players to stay so I didn't create any extra barriers or places of cover in case they get shot they will either need to run for cover of get killed.
Side Sections
The side sections act as zones where players can swing around the map and try to attack the middle villa area from a different angle. If players are skilled enough or have a sniper they could climb some environment platforms and get on even higher ground and pick off opponents from a distance. Taking a holding a side could be possible but there isn't very good places to hide and those "streets" are fairly narrow so unless you entirely push the other side back you won't be getting through.
